Hope and redemption
Hope and redemption are a major part of the story, and something shown in many of the characters. Hope is the major force behind the lead character Andy, and Andy restores the hope in Red.
Brooks, a long time inmate of Shawshank had lost his hope. He had become institutionalized. Red says of Brooks:
"These prison walls are funny. First you hate 'em, then you get used to 'em. Enough time passes, gets so you depend on them. That's institutionalized. They send you here for life, that's exactly what they take. The part that counts, anyways."
Red is heading for the same fate as Brooks, but Andy changes his way of thinking and brings him hope.

Simply the Best Classic in recent History
i think the movie represent the best classical film in recent history. I've seen it over and over
again and the movie just elevate you to be hopeful and have strength even in the presence of hardship. Tim Robbin and Morgan Freeman did a great job and of course living up to the profile they've both built. I love this movie and feel that all human being should see it.

A special film
I first saw Shawshank after a friend suggested watching it. We are both fans of Stephen King, although I had not read the book before watching the film. The power of the story didn't sink it at first, but each time I have watched the film I understand it more and more. Bravo everyone!
My favorite movie of all time
The Shawshank Redemption is my favorite movie of all time. I love the story and the cast and settings of the movie. I have seen the movie many times, and each time I enjoy it more and more. I love Stephen King's original story, and the way the movie script sticks closely to this. All of the characters shine, especially Andy and Red. The message of hope in the story has kept me strong over the years.

shawshank redemption
Is more than likely one of my top three (3) movies of all time. It's hard to recall all the movies that one has seen on a short notice. Saw Shawshank again last night with my Mom. She absoutely loved it. To the both of us, it was even better than Casablanca, a film that many say was the best all times. I persoanlly never agreed with that opinion. Shawshank surpasses it by a milestone.
