In this time economic

In this time economic depression, a lot of people surely are greatly affected not only financially but also psychologically. There's always a tendency to lose hope due to being jobless or bankruptcy. Shawshank Redemption is a great panacea for these diseases. We need more films like this, after all those Emo trends and what-have-thems.

shawshank redemption

One of the best movies of all time. Must read SK's original novella. The screenplay was magnificent; as well as, everything about the movie, casting, music, yada, yada, yada. Please let me state that nothing was "Yada" about this movie. What a work of art! At my age, I don't think any upcoming movie will cast it down from my top ten (10) of all time. Maybe even my top three (3). Thanks to everyone who had a part in making this film. A legacy has been left. Let there always be hope. Who needs to see depressing movies these days? There must be light in this cloud of darkness that seems to be surrounding our planet. A Friend from Texas. di

It's now 2.04 am in the morning, it's a Saturday night. About 3 hours ago i finished watching the local football game on tv here in Adelaide, Australia. For some reason the musical score of Thomas Newman decided to pop itself in my head as i was brushing my teeth getting ready for bed. It's a hard note to ignore. I guess good things are always hard to brush aside when they want to find you. After rinsing my mouth out i succumbed to the call of the music and found the DVD sitting pride of place on my shelf. I've done this many times before i thought to myself and i guess it's like saying hello to old friend that you've known all your life. You can travel wide and far, meet new people, gain new jobs and experiences in different cities, but you'll always keep your best friends. Well those who count anyway.

So i fired up the DVD player, switched the tv on AGAIN, and settled in with remote in hand and a large glass of milk. (try having a coke or a glass of wine after brushing ones teeth). 3 hours later and i am just as inspired as the first day that i saw it. I have dissected the film so many times in my head; the characters, the plot, the precision perfect analogies and metaphors, and most of all the feeling that i get inside: Hope of a life fulfilled and free of regret. Each and everyone of us i believe can take something unique to us from this film and i am glad that it found its way into my collection. I find that each and every time that i watch Shawshank it lets me know that we will be given choices in our lives that we must confront at one point or another. Life is about "Living" not "Dying", i know which one i'll be busy doing.
